Azure Exam 70-533
After a short period of study that included writing these, i’m pleased to say I’ve passed Exam 70-533 Implementing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions. Taking advantage of the offers Microsoft have made available here. I decided the time had come to validate some of the Azure skills I’d been picking up.
Exam 70-533 itself was something of a surprise for me. I was surprised at the specific nature of information that had to be retained. Questions regarding specific service tiers, don’t really show that the exam participant has any deeper understanding of the technology. They have always struck me as lazy questions. I was also surprised to see wider infrastructure questions on the exam, that had very little to do with Azure at all really.
What was very obvious was that to go into this exam without any or just a base understanding of ARM, ASM, Azure Storage, JSON and PowerShell would be very dangerous.
As with any examination time management is key. Answer the questions that you know, if you are spending anything longer than five minutes pondering on an answer move on and let your diffuse brain work on the question.
Be prepared for the reading required in the exam. With scenario based questions included there is a requirement to be able to quickly and precisely interpret text, scripts and images. All in all the time allowed should be ample.
Azure learning resources
I’ll just list some of the Azure learning resources I used here. Please consider that there really is nothing better than hands on experience.
Next up for me is a real challenge to try and pass the 70-532 developer focused exam and attain my MCSA. This will be a good challenge as my principal focus has been with infrastructure and architecture. Wish me luck.
